Silly mistakes costly for Glory and Boutsianis autobiography
Saturday, November 7, 2009
Morning all, and greetings from one of the South West's nicest towns ... Dunsborough. The most important thing is to try to get consistency and cut out silly mistakes in our games. If you have a look at the goals we conceded, nine or 10 of those goals have been through little errors. If we didn’t concede those goals I’m sure we would have had an extra nine points, which would have taken us to the top of the table.’
This and Busselton, used to be FP's old stomping ground when he used to be a foot-in-the-door journo for one of the local papers.
Not much has changed to be honest, which is something that doesn't surprise FP one bit. But if your looking for a relaxing weekend away from Perth, this has to be high on your list.
Meanwhile, back in the footballing world, Perth Glory should be in Wellington by now preparing for the match against the Phoenix tomorrow.
With the FIFA break next week, the Glory really need to snap this three-game losing streak, but against the Phoenix on their home ground, it will be tough.
Anyway onto some news, then:
---> MILE STERJOVSKI has pretty much confirmed/stated the bloody obvious - Perth Glory would be on top of the A-League ladder if it wasn't for silly mistakes.
Glory's season has been a mixture of great moments and annoyingly dissapointing/childish mistakes.
Here's what Mile said:
That's all well and good, but the real point is WHY has the Glory been making those errors? No one can really put a finger on it at the moment, and FP isn't sure they ever will be able to.
---> FORMER Perth Glory player Con Boutsianis is apparently working on a autobiography of his footballing life.
Boustainus, who most notably had stints with South Melbourne and the Glory during the hey days of the old NSL, has hired a writer to help him put together the book.
According to the writer, Boutsi "has a business coaching in Melbourne and on the Gold Coast, and will be working with Gold Coast United's players on free kicks over the remainder of this season".
The writer told FP:I spent the day with Boutsi yesterday and in about 8 hours of non-stop talk we only just managed to get through from his South Melbourne debut at 17 to him leaving Perth - and that was without covering his childhood and all the time we were just dealing in very broad terms.
He's an absolutely top bloke and it's going to be an absolute cracker of a book. The whole truth - no self-censoring. All stories told.
All stories told? With a career spanning the best part of 20 years, that could be some book.
---
Righto, that's all from here. FP will get to enjoying the South West, while you enjoy the rest of the weekend.
Tomorrow is gameday, so that's preview time on the blog. Be sure to check that out.
Ciao.
